Correction, Oct 11, 2026: this page said the NASCAR car display in Progreso was on Friday, Oct 16, the date a local news report gave in September. The promoter, Gran Premio Yucatán, now lists it on Thursday, Oct 15, 6–8 PM, on the Malecón de Progreso, with a driver autograph session, and says it is free.
The promoter’s public programme, posted Oct 11, says the gates open at 10:00 AM on both Saturday and Sunday and that activities run until 8:00 PM; NASCAR México’s earlier announcement said 9:00 AM. The same programme adds Trucks México Series support races (a sprint race at 2:00 PM Saturday and a race at 11:30 AM Sunday) and a fan-zone show after each NASCAR race. NASCAR México’s Oct 8 schedule has Saturday’s three practices from 7:50 AM, group qualifying at 12:40 PM and the Yucatán 120 at 3:40 PM; on Sunday, warm-up at 8:20 AM, group qualifying at 10:00 AM and the Gran Premio Yucatán 200 at 1:40 PM. All times are local (UTC-6); the times table on this page converts them to US time zones. The track layout NASCAR will use hasn’t been announced either.
What does Yucatán mean for the NASCAR Mexico title?
Rubén García Jr., the top seed, led the Chase on 2,056 points before the Yucatán doubleheader, ahead of Eloy Sebastián Falcón (2,051) and Irwin Vences (2,047), per NASCAR México’s Oct 8 standings; defending champion Alex de Alba Jr. was seventh on 2,041. Correction, Oct 2, 2026: an earlier version of this page said children under 6 get in free and described Friday’s car display as free. NASCAR México’s announcement says one child aged 6 or under gets in free with a paying adult. None of our sources then said whether that display was free, so we removed the word. Superseded in part: the display this note is about is the PROGRESO one, which we then believed was on Friday; the correction above, of Oct 11, has it on Thursday, Oct 15, and the promoter does now call it free. The Friday display at Plaza Grande is a different event and the promoter still publishes no admission for it.
How should you plan a trip to the Yucatán race?
Base yourself in Mérida for colonial streets, great food and nearby Maya sites, or in Progreso for the beach. Rent a car or book a transfer for the 45-minute run from the airport. Local ticket prices are very low for a professional series, so this is an easy add-on to a Yucatán vacation. Can you bring an umbrella, food or a cooler to the Yucatán NASCAR race?
An umbrella, yes; food, drinks and coolers, no. The promoter’s Oct 14 list of what you can bring includes umbrellas, a cap or hat, sunglasses, non-flammable sunscreen, ear protection (especially for children), a portable battery, essential personal medication, and a card and cash. When was NASCAR Mexico in Yucatán?
The races ran Oct 17–18, 2026, at Autódromo Yucatán near Mérida. Before them, a free car display and driver autograph session was held in Progreso on Thursday, Oct 15 (6–8 PM), and a car display at Plaza Grande in central Mérida on Friday, Oct 16 (7–9 PM). The promoter called the Thursday one free and published no admission for the Friday one.
How much were tickets for the Gran Premio Yucatán 200?
MX$750 plus fees for a general grandstand ticket valid both days, or MX$5,000 for a VIP box. One child aged 6 or under got in free with each adult holding a paid general grandstand ticket. The promoter also sold a Hospitality ticket that included access to the pits, but its price wasn’t published: The Hive Tickets, the authorized seller, listed only the general grandstand and the VIP box. On Oct 14 the promoter said tickets were also sold at the track’s box office (taquillas).
Can you pay with cash at the Yucatán NASCAR race?
Not directly. The promoter says the event is cashless: every vendor takes debit and credit cards and Apple Pay. If you bring cash, YOSHI reverse ATMs at the track take it and give you a QR code to pay with inside the event.
Why are there two races in Yucatán?
The Sept 5 Chase opener in Monterrey was cancelled because of rain, so it was moved to Yucatán as a Saturday race before Sunday’s scheduled round. NASCAR México calls Saturday’s race the “Aurora Networks – Ruckus Networks, Yucatán 120” and Sunday’s the “Gran Premio Yucatán 200”.
