What makes Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez special?

Named for racing brothers Ricardo and Pedro Rodríguez, Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez (AHR) is Mexico’s largest and most important race track. It hosts the Formula 1 Mexico City Grand Prix, the Formula E Mexico City E-Prix, and the NASCAR Mexico Series finale.

The signature feature is the stadium section: the final sector threads through Estadio GNP Seguros (formerly the Foro Sol baseball stadium), built inside the old Peraltada curve. Grandstands there create one of the loudest atmospheres on the F1 calendar. At more than 2,000 m (over 7,000 ft) above sea level, the thin air cuts downforce and engine cooling (how altitude changes an F1 car). That’s why cars run maximum-downforce wings yet still post some of the season’s highest top speeds.
