Which towns did SCORE name?
In a race preview issued Aug 13, 2026, SCORE said the 59th Baja 1000 course will “pass through or near” Los Barriles, La Paz, Ciudad Constitución, Loreto, Puerto San Carlos, Todos Santos and Cabo San Lucas. It is the first time SCORE has put names to the route since confirming that the 2026 race starts and finishes in San José del Cabo.
What does that tell us about the course?
Mostly that it is big. Los Barriles, Todos Santos and Cabo San Lucas sit in the Cape region within easy reach of San José del Cabo, but La Paz is a long run north, and Ciudad Constitución, Puerto San Carlos and Loreto are further north again — Loreto is most of the way up Baja California Sur. A loop touching all seven means a genuine peninsula-length race rather than a lap of the Cape, which matters if you are picking a base for race week.
What is still missing?
Everything a spectator actually needs. SCORE has not published the course map, the official mileage, the order in which the course reaches these towns, the highway crossings, the start times, the contingency and awards venues, or any approved spectator areas.
